Elements of Quality Value Investing | Part Four of a Series
The best of the QVI newsletter series on how the quality-driven value investing strategy prevails for those seeking to outperform their market benchmark.
The goal of this post is to examine best practices for building a self-managed portfolio of high-quality stocks purchased at reasonable prices through dividend value investing, mastering the art of behavioral investing, understanding why most investors underperform their market benchmark, and how achieving alpha is a challenging pursuit.

Note: The full-text Part 4 post, linked above, includes the links to Parts 1, 2, and 3 in the series.
Beginning next week, I will transition to comparable research and analysis posts, focusing on updates of existing QVI Stock Picks for brevity.
First up: Walmart (Sam’s) vs. Costco Wholesale.
Remember, new initiations of companies in the QVI Stock Picks are rare, as alpha-achieving stock picking requires extreme selectivity. For example, QVI has begun covering a new stock, on average, only 3 to 4 times a year.
A few subscribers have left QVI because they want a “new pick every week.” My response: Be my guest and join the crowd in the money-making (for the advisor or newsletter writer) game of analysis paralysis, where extreme stock-picking wastes investable capital on false dreams of fast money instead of generating absolute returns on capital and income over a long-term horizon.
For better or worse, we concentrate on slow money at Quality Value Investing. That is how a vast majority of generational wealth is made in the stock market.
